End of Service Learning? Don't Think So

10 blog posts later and +10 service hours later, I realize that I will continue to volunteer at the San Jose Clinic. Whether helping with translating doctor to patient instruction, to developing learning materials and even helping organizing medical records, I believe I can make volunteering at San Jose part of my weekly routine through out this summer.

As I had mentioned in almost every post before, Friday afternoons are very slow in so far as medical volunteering goes, but the volunteering coordinator, Samantha, has suggested I volunteer at the clinic on Thursdays after neurology shadowing at the Nerve and Muscle Center. Certainly, Thursdays are soon to become my medicine-centric days on my calendar, something that truly motivates me to prepare my hardest for the MCAT and hopefully apply for the 2011 academic year.

I conclude this blog by thanking Dr. Rosell and Dr. Larios for integrating the Service Learning Project into their classes. Truly, about 10 hours of volunteering doesn't seem much, but this experience has certainly motivated me to continue working with community partners in helping the under-served.

Now, back to studying for my Cell final.

Have an excellent summer, Dr. R.
